Sterling Personnel, Inc. is recruiting for a Corporate Controller/CPA for our client in the Galleria area in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of Corporate Controller experience in an organization with annual revenues in excess of $50 million and locations in multiple states. A person who is extremely organized, appreciates corporate structure and is a consummate professional will thrive in this position.
As Head of the Accounting department, the Controller will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and interface with the company’s banker, external auditors, lessors, insurance companies and others.
Duties:
The Controller will manage all aspects of accounting and will supervise, plan, coordinate, and manage the overall direction of the Accounting Department. This includes:
Responsible for analyzing operating results in terms of costs, budgets, trends, and policies of operations.
Provide financial analyses regarding capital investments, pricing, and contract negotiations.
Develop and enforce internal controls across all departments to ensure they are safeguarding assets and properly recording all transactions.
Responsible for compliance with all local, state, and federal tax laws and ensure corporate income tax compliance and verify the accurate and timely completion of all corporate tax returns.
Responsible for awareness of changes/developments in the accounting and finance fields that relate to job responsibilities and the overall company.
Responsible for Accounting department staff, which includes: interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies.
Assist with special projects and compile a variety of special reports.

Requirements:
7+ years of experience supervising all aspects of accounting
Licensed Texas Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA)
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum GPA of 3.0
Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Experience with financial statement analysis and identifying variances
Previous public accounting experience preferred
Proficient in Quickbooks Online
Willingness for travel as required
Effective and persuasive presentation skills
Must be proficient in the MS Office suite
