Sterling Personnel, Inc is recruiting for a Senior Staff Accountant for our client, a located in the Mathis, TX area. This position will be responsible for overseeing all the accounting functions and providing support to the payroll processing functions. This is a full time, temp-to-hire position with an expected schedule of Monday through Thursday from 8:00AM-5:00PM and Friday’s from 7:00AM-4:00PM, with the possibility of weekends when there is a special project at hand.
The ideal candidate for this position is analytical and diligent with excellent problem solving, quality management and organizational skills.
Senior Staff Accountant Responsibilities:
- Oversees and/or leads preparation of general ledger journal entries, fixed asset tracking, monthly balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliation.
- Assists in adoption of new accounting standards including but not limited to researching standards, preparing written accounting policy for company, and preparing new disclosures.
- Assist with company cash taking flow analysis, preparing reports, analyzing information for management, maintains all accounts receivable, refund accounts and deposit accounts.
- Assist with annual external audits.
- Oversee payroll-related functions including but not limited to processing new hires, termination status change, tax changes, wage garnishments, deductions, and direct deposits.
- Oversee and assist with the review, verification and processing of payroll data and processing manual checks when necessary.
- Develop and implement system for accurate storage and maintenance of payroll records and files including but not limited to PTO and other accrued leave.
- Oversee and be responsible for preparation of month-end financial and government reports and issues to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Administers human resources activities including but not limited to employee hiring practices and benefit plans and maintains employee files.
- Respond to employee’s benefit questions, resolves problems regarding access to payment benefits, orients newly eligible employees, and processes enrollment form and change requests.
Senior Staff Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent required.
- 3-5+ years of Senior Staff Accountant or similar experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Proficient in Dynamics GP accounting software or similar programs
- Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
